This collection contains over 800 original photographs ranging in condition from poor to good. Original order is unknown. All images are encapsulated. Formats include Stereocards, Cabinet Cards, Mounted Prints, and Prints. The photographs document McClintock's travels around Arizona, and the United States as a military officer, journalist, and postmaster. Many of the photographs were taken by McClintock himself. James Harvey McClintock was born February 23, 1864 in Sacramento, California, the son of John and Sarah G. McClintock. He left for Phoenix at age 15 to work for his brother, Charles, founder and co-owner of the Phoenix newspaper, The Salt River Herald. In 1881, Charles died suddenly and the newspaper was sold.
